In May we conducted a survey comparing best practices in terms of positioning IT services within the company. Over 90 professionals responded to the survey, the majority of them from companies of more than 1000 employees.
The questions ranged from positioning the IT services, charging for them, outsourcing, governance practices and the use of KPI’s.
Some of the most striking findings:
- At 85% of the companies the strategic priorities at company level are translated to priorities for the different IT services;
- Only 44% of the companies use chargeback for IT services;
- Flexible capacity is the biggest reason for outsourcing IT services;
- 77% of the IT organisations use performance dashboards, but half of them only disclose the dashboard at formal discussions.
