CIONET is very proud to announce the winner of the first ever European Digital Leader of the Year award. It is the first time that such an award is granted. With this award, the CIONET community wishes to celebrate a leader from outside of its member base who has substantially contributed to the use digital technology to achieve a bigger goal.
The prize was granted at CIO CITY’16 in Amsterdam, to the mayor of Eindhoven mister Rob van Gijzel.
Mister van Gijzel has understood the impact of digitization on society many years ago. Not only did he understood it, be he acted on it as well. He used technology not as a goal in itself, but as a mean to improve society as a whole.
Last but not least, he understands the vital importance of experimenting and failing in order to get the most value out of digital innovation.
It is the combination of vision and the courage to take bold steps to make the vision happening that the CIONET community wishes to reward today.
