We are pleased to invite all CIOnet members to take part in a pan-European survey that will identify the competences held by European ICT professionals and how they match labour market requirements: start here.

Taking part in this survey will enable you to:

1. receive a personal report assessing your ICT competences against a European framework. This will be automatically generated once you fill in the survey and will allow you to compare your competences against required competences for typical ICT job profiles throughout Europe

2. help identify your main strengths and weaknesses against ICT job profiles in Europe better identify training and professional development opportunities.

3. be better able to express your competences against the European framework of competences, which may assist your labour mobility increase awareness of your strengths and weakness against these job profiles

The research will be conducted via a web questionnaire based on the European e-Competence Framework (e-CF), developed by the CEN (European Committee for Standardization) Workshop on ICT Skills and supported by the European Commission and the Council of Ministers. This framework identifies 36 ICT competences, readable and understandable across different countries in Europe.

The work is carried out by the Council of European Professional Informatics Societies (CEPIS) of which your national informatics association, FBVI-FAIB ( www.bfia.be ) is a member. Contributions coming from a highly skilled ICT professional like you will be especially valuable in creating an overview at the national level as well as a pan-European snapshot of professional e-competence in Europe today.
