
Joaquín Reyes (Spain) was appointed IT manager of CEPSA‘s new service station network (Cepsa Red) in 1992, taking the responsibility for building an IT strategy and implementing the systems and applications required to support the new retail activities. Close contact with end customers gave him a good understanding of the retail business and the development of specialized loyalty and payment instruments. The solutions successfully deployed in Spain were later acquired by some of the biggest companies in South America.
Soon after taking the responsibility of Corporate IT Planning, in 2003 he was appointed CIO of the CEPSA Group.
In this position he has been working actively in the implementation of an IT strategy fully aligned with the Group business strategic objectives: achieve maximum efficiency through shared services centers, implement common business processes, and create international growth and competitive advantage.
As a result the IT government model and its Global Shared Service Centre organization has been established as the reference model for the Group, a reuse architecture has been successfully implemented to achieve the highest degree of business processes and technology integration across the five business areas of the Group -Exploration & Production, Refining, Marketing, Chemicals, Gas & Power- and finally in terms of cost CEPSA IT appears in benchmark analysis as one of the most efficient companies of the industry.
