Thomas Henkel (Germany) is responsible for Information & Communication Solutions at Amer Sports, a Finnish Group owning Sporting Goods brands like Atomic, Arc’Teryx, DeMarini, Precor, Salomon, Suunto and Wilson. He started his career in the Transportation and later High Tech Industry as Logistics/SCM consultant and moved on into Engineering & Construction being responsible for Operations.
In 2000 he joined Amer Sports as IT Director Europe, rescuing the failed SAP implementation and integrating newly aquired companies into the company structure. Three years later his responsibility was extended to be the General Manager of the AS European Services company providing IT and Logistics services to the Group (first for EMEA, later globally). During this time he also restructured the European Logistics setup, consolidating Distribution Centers and Transportation agreements to lower costs and improve customer service.
Together with his team of process, business and IT experts he initiated the “Global ONE” program to harmonize business processes, master data management and business analytics and to professionalize the way how business services are offered. In 2010 the success of this program was honoured with the award of the German “CIO of the year” where it won in two categories (large enterprises and global projects).
