
On June 3, 2013, 46 CIONET Advisory Board members from the UK, Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Norway, Belgium, The Netherlands & Luxembourg met in the Steigenberger Grandhotel in Brussels for the yearly CIONET International Advisory Board Meeting, which opened CIO CITY 2013.
On the agenda: Update & status of CIONET International; European CIO of the Year Awards; European Research Paper of the Year; New CIONET initiatives and Collaboration projects with the European Commission
A representative of the European Commission joined the international advisory board meeting, namely Alexander Riedl, dept. head of Knowledge Management with DG Connect, who is actively involved in the Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs.
The AB members had an interactive and informal discussion addressing the following issues:
- The EC and other sources predict an unfulfilled demand of several hundred thousands ICT professionals in the short term in Europe. What is the extent and impact of this issue, for Europe in general and for your organisation in particular?
- What level of skilled professionals will be most in demand (high, medium, low)?
- Which size organizations do you predict to have the highest demand for ICT professionals (Multinationals, major companies, SME)?
