Presenting Mark Foulsham, finalist of the European CIO of the Year 2014 awards

Mark Foulsham - CIO of ensure Group

Mark Foulsham (United Kingdom) is esure’s CIO, and joined the company in 2004.
He began his career as a graduate Civil Engineer, becoming a Chartered Engineer in his early twenties whilst working for WS Atkins.  During this time he moved from Engineering to IT and helped establish the first networked systems across Atkins.
After seven years, Mark moved to the French multinational Bouygues and took on the role of IT Director for a number of UK subsidiaries specialising in Engineering, Facilities, Water Supply, Construction and Environmental Services.
When Bouygues decided to sell off their UK assets, Mark worked within the divestment team and transferred to the recipient organisation, Macquarie Bank, where he was Director of IT for the transferred companies. After helping the new organisations bed-in he decided to look for fresh experience and moved to esure.

Since starting at esure overseeing IT, Mark has also taken on responsibilities periodically for Sales and Operations as well as Financial Crime.  He currently also oversees esure’s Purchasing function and the Facilities department.  Within the last few years he has been a Non-Executive Director for Hampshire-based hosting company Cobweb Solutions, led the pilot for the Sheila’s Wheels Driving Academy concept and worked closely with GoCompare (partly owned by esure).  He is active in the IT Industry and currently holds the Chairmanship of the CIO Connect Advisory Board.
