On May 16th over 50 Belgian digital leaders gathered in Brussels to discuss and share thoughts on how to adapt their organisation to new digital business models.
Steven De Haes, professor at the Antwerp University, shared the conclusions of a recent study he and his team has conducted on why non-executive board members are not involved in technology decision taking in their organisation, and why they should. We will spend a separate article on his major findings soon.
After this academic introduction, 4 real-life testimonials from a wide range of industries brought valuable insight into how organisations adapt to the new paradigm of the digital company. Bert Van der Auwera from football club Anderlecht explained how core team from different business units is constantly assessing the opportunity of new technology in domains as varied as ticketing, fan experience and player’s potential future injuries. Xavier Bourgois from technology company Barco explained how he deals with challenges of turning the company into an XaaS innovation powerhouse. Philip Taillieu, co-CEO of Be-Mobile testified on how he made sure to have the right structure in place to ensure scalability in a rapidly growing environment. Last but not least, Gert Vanhaecht from Belfius Insurance shed his light on how smart data is becoming the core of the organisation at an insurance company.
We wish to thank all the speakers for sharing their valuable insights, and the attendees for making this event an interactive, learningful experience.
